The Most Common Long-Term Visas in Thailand

Jul 24

There are several types of long-term visas in Thailand. The most common are retirement, marriage, and business. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages. Learn more about each one and which one is best for your specific needs. Here are a few examples. These visas are generally valid for four years or more and are intended for people who need to stay in Thailand for a long time. There are some exceptions to this rule, however.

Thai Retirement Visa

If you're considering retiring in Thailand, you should understand the requirements for a Thai Retirement Visa and how to apply. Essentially, this is the same visa you would get for any other country, except that it must be renewed annually. To apply for this visa, you should visit a Thai Embassy or another institution that issues such a visa. Applicants must also remember that not all Thai embassies issue retirement visas, and it is important to know your options before traveling to Thailand.

You can apply for a Thai Retirement Visa within Thailand or in your home country, as long as you have been in the country for at least 60 days. You will need to apply for a 90-day Non-Immigrant O (Long Stay) Visa outside Thailand before applying for a Thai retirement visa. You cannot apply for a Thai retirement visa while in Thailand on a Tourist Visa or 30 day entry stamp. Moreover, you will need to provide a valid passport when applying for a Thai Retirement Visa.

Thailand Marriage Visa

If you want to get married in Thailand, there are several requirements to meet. One of the first is to have a marriage certificate recognized by Thailand. The second is to have a bank account with 400,000 baht in it for at least 2 months. Applicants can also provide a bank book or embassy letter to prove their relationship. Moreover, if you are a foreigner, you will have to obtain a non-immigrant visa first.

The Thai Marriage Visa application process can be quite straightforward. If you're an expat, you should apply for a Thailand Non-Immigrant O visa. You must apply for this visa through the Royal Thai Embassy. It is also important to make sure that you have a valid passport and a recent photo. Depending on the length of your stay, you can also choose to have the visa extended for six months.

Thai Business Visa

The Thai Business Visa is the most common long-stay visa in Thailand. A single-entry Thai Business Visa is valid for 90 days, while a multiple-entry Thai Business Visa is valid for 1 year. Both types of visas require reporting to the Thai embassy every 90 days. If you plan to stay longer than one year in Thailand, a one-year non-immigrant visa is recommended.

In order to obtain a B-A visa for one year in Thailand, foreigners must first establish a company or hire Thai employees to start their own business. Then, they must invest enough capital to start a business in Thailand. The speed of approval depends on the foreigner's credibility. If you have a degree or other relevant qualifications related to the proposed employment in Thailand, then a year-long visa will give you more freedom to work in Thailand for a year.
