“Nine months without getting on a plane made us itchy to spread our wings and fly, and we decided to put fear aside and head to Mexico for Thanksgiving break. My daughters, husband and I went to Mexico City and Cabo for a week and we were so glad we went!

The precautions airlines took on flights to and from Mexico and even within Mexico were top notch and gave us confidence that everything would be fine. Upon arrival in Mexico City, our Enchanting Travels chauffeur cleaned not only the door handles of the car, but also our shoes and hands. The entire vehicle had been disinfected and sparkling clean before it was picked up. Our driver guide Juan wore gloves and a mask and encouraged us to do the same. We had our masks, but gloves were not required. The car was stocked with hand sanitizer and extra masks for our use. We felt very comfortable and safe.

During our excursions in Mexico City, we found that local citizens took the precautions for COVID-19 seriously and wore masks at all times. Restaurants and shops let us sanitize the baths for our shoes and test the temperatures, and gave us hand sanitizer before entering. Even our hotel room had what they called a little care package, which included hand sanitizer, wipes and masks.

We spent half a day in Teotihuacan and also did a street food tour in Mexico City. Even as we walked through the city’s varied and interesting food and vegetable markets, we felt completely at ease thanks to the trust our guide Roderiguez had placed in us. The people were warm and welcoming and left some great memories, not to mention the delicious cuisine. Who would have thought there are hundreds of different types of salsa? And what we consider Mexican food here in the US is so limited when compared to the complex flavors on offer there. We tried everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to sausages and beetles and each one was more delicious than the previous one, quite a wake up to our range!

We followed with a few days of rest and relaxation in Cabo San Lucas and again the vehicle that picked us up at the airport was completely refurbished and our chauffeur followed the same routine of disinfecting the car door handles, our shoes and our hands. He wore a mask all the time and did it well too.

The Nobu Hotel was absolutely stunning. The overall design and theme was to bring the outdoors inside so that the lobbies were al fresco and the rooms had huge balconies overlooking the ocean. Again, the hotel recommended taking COVID-19 precautions, e.g. B. wearing a mask in restaurants or around people, which everyone did without complaint. The time at the beach made us feel free and made the decision to return to the USA and face the dire situation again.

What I learned from this experience is that with a few precautions from us, the airlines, the Enchanting Travels staff, and the hotels we stayed at on our trip, it was safe, enjoyable and ready to continue traveling through plan the new year. Thank you Enchanting Travels for making our journey a SUCCESS! “
