Elaine Ethier passed away peacefully in the Hunt Community in Nashua, New Hampshire on November 23, 2020 after a period of dwindling health. Elaine was born on June 18, 1933 in Nashua, New Hampshire, to Sam and Mildred (Burnham) Dachos. She was the late Richard’s wife “Thick” Ethier, to whom she was married for 50 years before his death in 2003. Elaine was also died of five siblings, including Melba Congelton, Lucielle Gelpi, James Dachos, Joan Aguirre, and Captain John Dachos.
Elaine graduated from Nashua Senior High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Banking. Her banking career included positions with the Bank of NH and later with the Nashua Trust Company, from where she retired as Assistant Vice President of Operations.
Elaine was a member and past president of the NH Bank Administration Institute, a board member of Zonta International, a board member of the Adult Learning Center and a member of the Nashua Chamber of Commerce.
Elaine and her husband enjoyed traveling, including in the United States and Europe. They spent several winters at The Villages in Florida with many of their Nashua friends. In addition to traveling, Elaine and her husband were avid golfers, hair curlers, and card players as members of the Nashua Country Club. She also loved to entertain and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Elaine is survived by her children Michael Ethier and his wife Janine, Linda Garner and her husband Robert as well as Michelle Raczek and her husband Stefan; Grandchildren including Glenn Garner (Melanie), Amanda Burgess, Kerry Varley (Adam), Jessica Dunlap (Jake), Katie Ethier, Elisabeth Raczek and Christopher Raczek. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren. In addition, Elaine survives a special niece, Karen Fenn, with whom she enjoyed traveling, as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Elaine’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Hunt Community in Nashua, where Elaine lived both an independent life and a nursing home before her death. She received a lot of care, especially last year, during a difficult time.
SERVICES: There will be a small burial at the grave in St. Louis de Gonzage Cemetery on December 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Instead of flowers, the family is asking for donations in Elaine’s Memory of the Salvation Army, 1 Montgomery Avenue, Nashua, NH 03060.
