Hilton delivers particular staycation for couple after canceled honeymoon

When Jacob and Abbie Bennett had to cancel their 30-day honeymoon in Europe this summer, they decided to book a stay in their hometown of Washington, DC instead. It turned out to be an unforgettable “journey”.

Jacob, a kindergarten teacher, had caught the flu during his first honeymoon in Hawaii, so the trip should be a do-over. Obviously, the COVID-19 pandemic has thwarted these plans.

“My wife and I were strict about social distancing and staying home during this pandemic – it was tough,” he told Hilton in a statement.

The couple chose the Conrad Washington DC When the hotel found out its history, it decided to go the extra mile to bring Europe to them.

It was aimed at luxury hotels across Europe, including the Waldorf Astoria Berlin, the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam, the Waldorf Astoria Versailles – Trianon Palaceto, and the Conrad London St. James.

The Conrad provided personalized notes, photos and videos for the couple to enjoy throughout their stay, and sent them themed canapés and cocktails to represent each city.

Vera Vandijk, Front Office Director at Conrad Washington DC, planned the experience for the couple.

“(Vandijk) is originally from the Netherlands and had also canceled a trip abroad to visit the family. Personally, she wanted to give Jacob and Abbie a special impression of Europe and show our appreciation for everything Jacob does as a teacher, especially with the A unique school year is just around the corner, “said Laura Schofield, general manager at Conrad Washington DC, in a statement.

“When Vera was asked if she would like to create this special stay for the couple, she said, ‘We do this every day,” Schofield added.
