Royal Caribbean expands double factors supply to incorporate almost all 2021 cruises
In the hours since Royal Caribbean announced it would be offering double loyalty points on cruises in 2021, the cruise line has changed terms and conditions so that it can be combined with almost any sailing trip in 2021.
Initially, the Loyalty 2X Points benefit was not available for certain tariffs such as group tariffs or even existing bookings
Royal Caribbean has changed its mind and updated its Terms and Conditions so that Loyalty 2X Points will apply to new, individual and named group bookings confirmed at the prevailing rates, as well as existing bookings for bookings made before December 31, 2020 were made between January 1 and December 31, 2021.
As the day wore on, the terms and conditions for the Loyalty 2X Points benefit changed, adding existing bookings and then naming group bookings. These changes create great confusion among cruisers.
A named group booking is when a travel agent sends the names in its group block to Royal Caribbean.
From Tuesday, the Loyalty 2X Points extension will apply to an existing or new booking made before December 31, 2020 for trips from January 1 to December 31, 2021.
If you have already made a reservation before December 31, 2020, you do not need to book again to receive this benefit. All you need to do is ensure that a valid Crown & Anchor Society membership number is on the reservation
Crown and anchor points are applied once the guest has paid for their booking in full and completed their sailing. If you are in a group make sure the travel agent provides the full booking details for you so that your cabin is named now.
On social media, Royal Caribbean stated that this benefit can be combined with other offers and is not an advertisement, but an extension of the program for qualified bookings.
The other big change with the Loyalty 2X Points benefit is that Royal Caribbean has changed the number of points that guests receive.
Initially it looked like guests would get an extra point per night (which “doubles” a standard room), but Royal Caribbean’s social media team now say guests get double points in all stateroom categories.
- Standard room: 2 points per night
- Suite room: 4 points per night
- Solo traveler in a standard room: 4 points per night
- Solo traveler in a suite: 6 points per night
