Travel questions answered as we hesitate to book holidays

There has been so much uncertainty about current travel policies that many of us are reluctant to commit to booking our vacations for 2021 and beyond.

I’m sure many of us have the same questions that we would like to answer to reassure us that we will be traveling again.

What if I book my vacation and we lock again when I’m traveling?

What if I have to cancel my vacation because of symptoms of Covid?

What if the country I’m traveling to is blocked and we no longer have a travel corridor?

What if I get Covid while on vacation?

These are just some of the questions I am asked a lot these days.

My first piece of advice would be to make sure that you have adequate travel insurance and that if you are traveling outside of Europe you have global coverage.

Second, check with your travel agent or tour operator about what they offer to protect your deposit and your vacation booking. Are they ABTA and ATOL protected? Do they include coverage that includes the ability to change, cancel or postpone your booking for free if affected by the change in FCO policy?

Does your property have Covid logs? Some hotel chains offer free health insurance for you and your family in case you show symptoms during your stay.

We all work hard to pay for our vacations and we should always be able to book with the confidence that we will be looked after before, during and after our stay.

The current climate shouldn’t keep you from booking your next trip and getting excited about something. Just be sure.
